Hey,
Remember Myspace days where you could add a song to play when people opened your profile..?! Yes, I’m THAT old! Well, it would be “B****” by Meredith Brooks… For almost my entire life I thought that song was by Alanis Morriset BUT IT ISN’T! It was mislabeled as her song, when I found out it blew my mind! Anyways I’d use that song here because that pretty much sums it up! So, feel free to hum that song as you learn more about me… “I’m a B****, I’m a lover, I’m a child, I’m a mother, I’m a sinner, I’m a saint… I do not feel ashamed!”
Cute side note here, that is the first curse word my mother let my little sister and I say ONLY while singing along to that song when it came on over the radio driving around in her 1995 Chevy Blazer – which subsequently became my car at 16… ah, memories!
I decided to start this blog for sleep deprived parents and caregivers of all types! I’m not perfect and I’m not going to pretend to be. I cuss, drink, I’m a Christian… well, more spiritual than Christian, but we can unpack that later… I love the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, people are people, I will use body part terms some may believe are “??” How do you talk about pregnancy, motherhood, or babies without talking about body parts?! HELLOOOOO MINE ARE DESTROYED NOW and you’re going to hear (and laugh) about it! But this is my blog and my opinion and I’m too damn tired to not be my real self. Plus, truth really does provide the best and most hilarious content!
I’m also a first time parent, so I will mess up… A LOT! I will make mistakes, but that’s how you learn and grow, right?! And I will make typos! I do my best to proof read, but most of my blogs I write late at night on my phone, so the “texting habbits” creep in… lower case i’s, and u’s instead of you… So if any of you are still here after hearing all of that, welcome! You will be lovingly referred to as my Tired Troopers, because let’s face it, YOU ARE ALL TIRED TOO! And that’s ok! Its ok to admit that for the rest of our lives we will be tired, worried, need help and fail and have some hilarious moments all along the way. But the love that we have for those little turds is like nothing else in the entire world and that’s why we do this. That’s why we are elbow deep in diapers and debt and puffy eyes and ALL OF IT. We love those kids with a passion unlike any other. So like the troopers we are, we soldier on through it all! So strap in, cause this WILL be a bumpy ride!
My main goal is to show you that you’re not alone and not crazy… well not crazy 99.9999999% of the time… Let’s face it – we ALL have those moments… and I’ll share mine with you here!
Hello Tired Troopers!
Fellow Tired Mama here or should I say proud mama, I’m a proud mama of twins. Yep, TWINS!!! I never wanted twins, I mean NEVER. In my mind that was the worst thing that could happen. I’m 3 years older than my little sister and I loved the age difference between us. It was close enough that we grew up together, but distant enough that there was a clear first born and second born. I loved my role as the older sister, the protector, the teacher, the bad influence, etc., etc., 😉 … I wanted that relationship for my children someday. I wanted the older “Guinea Pig” kid and the younger “I’ll get it right this time” kid, haha! Plus I didn’t want my kids to be too competitive, I mean siblings are already competitive enough and for them to be the same age I didn’t want one to make the team or squad if they both tried out, or both to make the team and only one is a starter, etc. or God forbid they develop a crush on the same person at the same time! I had a lot of friend sibling pairs who were two years apart who ended up developing a crush on the same person and it wasn’t good… Then, looking to the future the thought of having to buy two cars at the same time or making them share one car (another possible, inevitable thing to fight about) OR having them both leave the nest at the same time… YIKES!!!
Welp, turns out God had other plans in mind for me and I’m so glad I have the two kids that I got! Don’t get me wrong, I’m still scared about some of the items on my old anti-twin list, but my long term plan for survival is to take it one day at a time. That’s where this blog comes in. I wanted a place where I could write about my experiences as a Tired Mama, the good, the bad, the ugly and the hilarious! I’m sure you will judge some, most of, or even all of the content that I post here and that is A-Okay! No one Mama is perfect, there isn’t one correct way to raise a child or children and I know that I’m going to mess up A LOT. But if my life experiences, decisions and/or opinions teach someone something, uplift someone, inspire someone or just entertain someone with a good laugh that is all I want to do! So, wash your face or at least splash some water on it (cause I know you ain’t got time to take that shower), refill that coffee that is going to be cold before you get to take the first sip and strap in!
Heads up, I will cuss on here, but i will try and use *** when I remember, but you’ll know…😏) – I truly believe God has a sense of humor and loves us for our imperfections. I don’t care what your religion is or if you even believe in a higher power. I only care if people are good and accepting of all. All races, religions, creeds, sexual orientation, etc. Hence why I love the 2SLGBTQIA+ community!! In my experience people from that community are some of the most honest, genuine, accepting, loving, most wonderful people I’ve met! I am heterosexual woman, but a major tomboy. I have many close friends who are gay and many close friends who are straight. All are welcome here. This is a place where parents can help and support each other cause without that we will all be taken over by the kids and we can’t let that happen!!!
P.S. I desperately want to be 100% truthful in my content, but I also have to keep my kids anonymity. So, because of that I am going to use nicknames when I reference us and any pictures I share will also disguise our identity. This is only because making this blog is my choice. Not my husband’s and certainly not my babies’! So, for now, I feel the most responsible thing I can do for them is to remain incognito which will also allow me the freedom to be completely truthful without worry. In the spirit of transparency I wanted to address my decision with you. I hope you enjoy the humorous ways I try to accomplish this along the way!

Where we are all BONE TIRED, but we still soldier on through it ALL!

Tired Mama

Life is messy, and kids are MESSY! This is a blog full of real contect about the chaos it is to be a parent! So, strap in Tired Troopers, because this WILL BE A BUMPY RIDE!!!

This was me during my transition into bone-tired motherhood while my twins were brand new babies in the NICU:

Still pretty cute, but you can see the toll that my kids rough start was taking… there’s still a slight sparkle in the eye, but surrounded by dark, baggy, circles and the beginning stages of constant stress and lack of sleep causing the rest of me to waste away…
Here is what I look like now, 1 year into motherhood:

Eyes completely gone, hence the sunglasses, forget about any sparkle! 100000000% bone-tired, but keeping my spirits up! Most days I rock a hat, but I decided to do my hair for this official portrait. I just wanted to look my best!
Disclaimer: Again, I am a first-time parent. I will mess up A LOT… Duh! Nothing on my website, social media, or correspondence is to be viewed or taken as advice of any kind. I will make fun of everything – mostly myself. Hope you find these stories interesting, entertaining and/or hilarious.
